Creating effective performance metrics for IT teams

Most CIOs struggle to create IT metrics and KPIs that matter to stakeholders, resulting in the perception that IT is busy “doing IT” and doesn’t understand the business. To capture their attention, CIOs should create metrics that reflect company strategy through contextualized dashboards and KPIs.

But a common misperception is that other organizations have the right dashboards figured out, and it’s just a matter of adopting the right batch of metrics that somebody else is using. However, most organizations aren’t great at creating effective metrics — and the ones they have are likely not the ones that will work for your situation.
